The Peacock Press

Picture
Featuring News from PVPUSD Elementary Schools--written by kids for kids

The Peacock Press was open to fourth and fifth grade elementary students in PVPUSD's ten elementary schools. The program was sponsored by the Peninsula HIgh School PressFriends club, Palos Verdes High School PressFriends club, Peninsula High School, and Palos Verdes High School.
.
The Peacock Press was a mentoring program - rather than a writing program - based on the PressFriends model  (www.pressfriends.org).  The goal is "Making Friends, While Making Writing Fun" in a program run entirely by students.  This was not the program for parents who were looking for a syllabus or curriculum.  Copies of the issues are be distributed to the schools. Once the copies are delivered to the schools, parents need to speak to their elementary schools about obtaining copies and not to the high school or the high school students or their parents. The Peninsula High PressFriends club and the Palos Verdes High PressFriends club are completely volunteer and has no paid employees, contractors, or consultants. Electronic copies are always available on this website.

Members of the Peninsula PressFriends club and the Palos Verdes High PressFriends club also volunteer with PressFriends, which works with higher need elementary schools, public libraries, and community programs.
